For Vincee, beauty has always been more than skin deep. As a woman who wears many hats, a daughter and a mother of three, she carries within her a quiet strength passed down by the woman who raised her. That woman is Cheong Yuet Kuen, a mother whose journey was carved by pain, perseverance and unconditional love.
This Mother’s Day, Beauté Library x B+ Clinic welcomed Vincee and her beloved mother for a moment of relaxation and reflection. Between calming treatments and tender conversations, a much deeper story emerged. A story of survival, silent strength and the kind of love that never fades.
During the session, Vincee shared a quiet realisation that had recently struck her. She never truly noticed how much her mother had aged, perhaps because her love had always felt so unwavering and whole. But as she looked more closely, she realised that time and worry had left their marks. The kind that comes from years of putting your children first. It dawned on her how easily we overlook the quiet sacrifices made in the name of love.
Then came a memory that lingered with both mother and daughter. When Vincee was just 18 months old, she was diagnosed with Wilms tumour, a rare kidney cancer. Her mother, Cheong Yuet Kuen, remembered how her world seemed to collapse. She was overwhelmed with fear and uncertainty, unable to express what she felt, only knowing that everything around her felt like it was crumbling. Her eyes welled up with tears as she whispered, “Luckily, God helped us.”
Now, as a mother herself, Vincee finally understands the helplessness her mother must have felt. When her own children fall sick or cry in pain, she is reminded of what her mother endured quietly decades ago. At that moment, Vincee could not hold back her emotions. Tears filled her eyes as she turned to her mother and said thank you, for holding on, for never giving up and for walking through fire just to see her daughter grow.
And then it came full circle. Those words her mother once said, you will not understand now but you will one day when you become a mother, now rang so clear and true. Vincee nodded through her tears, feeling a deep sense of clarity and peace. She was finally on the other side of that understanding. She was a mother now too and she saw the world through her mother’s eyes.
“I want to be as strong as you,” Vincee said, her voice trembling.
“You will be,” her mother replied with warmth. “And your children will follow you too.”
In the quiet after the tears, her mother offered one last truth, simple yet profound. “Beauty is not what you see in the mirror. It is what we endure, the love we have, the strength within us.”
In that moment, their bond deepened. It was no longer just a relationship between mother and daughter, but one between two women who now stood side by side in their understanding of love, strength and sacrifice. The journey they had walked together was now etched in both their hearts, a reminder of resilience passed down from one generation to the next.
This Mother's Day, Beauté Library x B+ Clinic honours not just the beauty we see but the stories behind it. The sacrifices, the silent fears, the quiet courage and the enduring love that connects generations of women. It is a celebration of every wrinkle earned, every tear shed and every moment endured in the name of love.
